"Excluded by 'noindex' tag": what it means and how to fix it
The page tells Google not to index it with a noindex rule.
What it means
Google crawled the page and found a noindex directive in a meta tag or an X-Robots-Tag header, so it did not index the page.
Common causes
- A CMS or SEO plugin setting adds
noindexto this page type. - A staging setting stayed on after launch.
- The page is intentionally private, such as a thank-you page.
How to fix it
- If you want the page on Google, remove the
noindexmeta tag or header. - If the page should stay out of Google, remove it from the sitemap.
When you can ignore it
The page is a login, cart, thank-you, or other page that should not appear in search. Remove it from the sitemap.
How to find these pages
In Search Console, open Indexing > Pages and select the "Excluded by 'noindex' tag" row. Search Console shows up to 1,000 example URLs. CrawlCoach checks up to 10,000 URLs from your sitemap for each site and groups them by cause, so you fix the most valuable pages first.
