Squarespace pages not indexed: causes and fixes
Squarespace blog category and tag pages often compete with your posts. One setting can also hide a page from search.
The three most common reasons on Squarespace
Excluded by 'noindex' tag
Why it happens: Each page's SEO settings have an option to hide the page from search results, which adds noindex.
The fix: Open the page settings, go to the SEO tab, and turn off the option that hides the page from search engines.
Duplicate without user-selected canonical
Why it happens: Category and tag filters make addresses such as /blog?category= that list the same posts as your main blog page.
The fix: This is usually fine. Google picks the main page. Link to your posts directly from your menu, not through filtered lists.
Crawled - currently not indexed
Why it happens: Portfolio, gallery, or product pages with little text give Google little reason to show them.
The fix: Add a few paragraphs to the pages you want found. Link to them from your main pages.
Where your sitemap is
Squarespace makes your sitemap at /sitemap.xml and keeps it up to date. You can't edit it. You choose what goes in it through page settings.
Settings that hide pages on Squarespace
- A site-wide password, or a site that is still in its trial and not published.
- The option in a page's SEO settings that hides it from search engines.
- Pages that are turned off in the page list and not linked from any menu.

Questions
Can I remove pages from the Squarespace sitemap?
Not directly. Pages you hide from search engines in their SEO settings leave the sitemap.
Does the built-in squarespace.com domain hurt my custom domain?
When you set a custom domain as primary, Squarespace redirects the built-in domain to it, so Google indexes the custom domain.
