"Page fetch: Successful" but the page is not indexed
Google got the page without trouble and still left it out. The reason is about the page or a duplicate, not your server.
- Verdict
- URL is not on Google
- Page fetch
- Successful

What it means
Google's help says it plainly: fetching can succeed even when the page is not indexed for another reason.
So your server is fine. Google read the page and made a choice. The Page indexing heading says which one.
Where it shows: Page indexing > Crawl > Page fetch, while the verdict at the top says URL is not on Google.

- Crawled - currently not indexed: Google read the page and decided it adds too little.
- Google-selected canonical is another address: Google treats this page as a copy.
- Indexing allowed? says No: a
noindexrule told Google to leave it out.
How to check which cause applies
- Read the Page indexing heading: the words after "Page is not indexed:".
- Look at the Indexing allowed? line. If it says No, find the
noindexrule. - Compare Google-selected canonical with the address you inspected.
- If both look fine and the reason is Crawled - currently not indexed, compare the page with similar pages that are on Google.
How to fix it
- For
noindex: remove the rule, then click Request indexing. - For a copy: add a canonical tag, or make the page clearly different.
- For Crawled - currently not indexed: add useful content of your own, and link to the page from pages already on Google.
- Then click Test live URL and Request indexing once.
When you can ignore it
The page is a copy, or a page you don't need in search.
With CrawlCoach
CrawlCoach compares the missing pages with pages on Google in the same part of your site, to show what the missing ones lack. Google makes the final call on what it indexes.
Related Page indexing reasons
- Crawled - currently not indexed: Google visited the page and chose not to show it in search, usually because the page added too little.
- Duplicate without user-selected canonical: Google sees the page as a copy of another page, and the page doesn't say which one is the main page.
- Excluded by 'noindex' tag: A noindex rule on the page tells Google to leave it out.
Questions
Why is my page not indexed when Page fetch is Successful?
Because the fetch only shows Google could get the page. Google then decided not to index it. The Page indexing heading names the reason, most often Crawled - currently not indexed or a duplicate.
Will Request indexing help if Page fetch is Successful?
Only if you changed the page. Google already has this version. Asking again without a change does not change its decision.
