"Page indexed without content": what it means and how to fix it
Google indexed the URL but could not read its content.
What it means
The page is in the index, but Google could not read its content. This can happen when the content is in a format that Google cannot render, or when the server hides the content from Google.
Common causes
- The content loads only after a JavaScript step that failed for Google.
- A firewall or bot protection shows Google a different page.
- The page uses a format that Google cannot index.
How to fix it
- Use the URL Inspection tool in Search Console to view the rendered page.
- Make sure bot protection allows Googlebot.
- Render the main content on the server, not only in the browser.
How to find these pages
In Search Console, open Indexing > Pages and select the "Page indexed without content" row. Search Console shows up to 1,000 example URLs. CrawlCoach checks up to 10,000 URLs from your sitemap for each site and groups them by cause, so you fix the most valuable pages first.
