How long does Google take to index a new page?
Google says crawling takes a few days to a few weeks, and a request doesn't guarantee indexing. Links from pages Google already has help it find new ones.

Google's own answer: crawling can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. Requesting a crawl does not guarantee that a page will be included in search results quickly, or at all. There is a quota for Request indexing, and asking again for the same URL won't make it faster.
| What you do | What Google says | How much it helps |
|---|---|---|
| Submit a sitemap | A sitemap is a hint, and doesn't guarantee Google will download it | Tells Google the page exists |
| Link from pages Google has | Google discovers pages when it follows a link from a known page | How Google finds most new pages |
| Request indexing | Crawling can take a few days to a few weeks; there is a quota | Good for a few important pages |
| IndexNow | Google doesn't use it | Speeds up Bing and other IndexNow engines, with no guarantee |
Why a page stays off Google
Search Console gives a reason for each page Google skipped. Discovered - currently not indexed means Google knows the page but hasn't visited it. Crawled - currently not indexed means it visited and chose not to add it. URL is unknown to Google means it hasn't found the page at all. Each reason has its own fix.

Questions
How do I get Google to index a page faster?
Link to it from your pages that are already on Google, keep it in your sitemap, and use Request indexing in Search Console for your most important pages. Google says it prioritizes high quality, useful content.
How long does Bing take to index a page?
Bing doesn't give a time. IndexNow tells Bing and other engines when a page changes, which makes faster discovery more likely, but its FAQ says it doesn't guarantee immediate indexing.
My page is still not indexed after weeks. What now?
Open URL Inspection in Search Console and read the reason it gives. Our reason guides explain each one and the fix.
