"URL is unknown to Google": what it means and how to fix it
Google has not found this URL anywhere yet.
What it means
Google has no record of the URL. It is not in a sitemap that Google read, and Google has not followed a link to it.
Common causes
- The page is new.
- The page is not in a submitted sitemap.
- No other page links to it (an orphan page).
How to fix it
- Add the page to your sitemap. CrawlCoach resubmits sitemaps when they change.
- Link to the page from at least one page that Google already indexed.
How to find these pages
In Search Console, open Indexing > Pages and select the "URL is unknown to Google" row. Search Console shows up to 1,000 example URLs. CrawlCoach checks up to 10,000 URLs from your sitemap for each site and groups them by cause, so you fix the most valuable pages first.
