"Last crawl: N/A" in URL Inspection: what it means
Google has no successful visit to this page on record. So it has nothing indexed to show yet.
- Last crawl
- N/A
By Bruno Amorim · ·
What it means
Last crawl is the last time Google crawled the page, in your local time. Everything else in the result comes from that visit.
N/A means there is no successful crawl to show. The API reference says the field is left out when the page was never crawled successfully.
You usually see it with Discovered - currently not indexed. Google's help says that is why the last crawl date is empty for that reason: Google knows the page but has not visited yet.
Where it shows: Page indexing > Crawl > Last crawl.

- Google found the address but put the visit off for later: Discovered - currently not indexed.
- Google has never seen the address: URL is unknown to Google.
- Google can't visit, because robots.txt blocks the page.
- Google tried, and the fetch failed each time.
How to check which cause applies
- Read the Page indexing heading for the reason.
- Look at Discovery. If Sitemaps and Referring page are both empty, Google has few ways to find the page.
- Look at the Crawl allowed? line. If it says No, robots.txt blocks the visit.
- Click Test live URL to see whether Google can get the page now.
How to fix it
- Make sure the page is in your sitemap, and the sitemap is submitted in Search Console.
- Link to the page from pages that are already on Google.
- Click Test live URL. If it says URL is available to Google, click Request indexing.
- If many pages wait, make your server faster and take weak pages out of your sitemap. Then Google spends its visits on the pages you want.
When you can ignore it
The page is new. Google's help says it can take a week or so for Google to start crawling a new page or site.
With CrawlCoach
CrawlCoach shows when Google last visited each missing page it checks, next to the reason. For a missing page, it can also suggest pages on Google that should link to it. Google makes the final call on what it indexes.
Related Page indexing reasons
- Discovered - currently not indexed: Google knows the page exists but has not visited it yet.
- URL is unknown to Google: Google has not found this page anywhere yet.
- Blocked by robots.txt: Your robots.txt file stops Google from visiting the page.
Questions
What does "Last crawl: N/A" mean?
Google has no successful crawl of the page on record. Most often Google knows the address but has not visited yet.
Is Last crawl shown in my time zone?
Yes. Google's help says Last crawl is shown in your local time.
Page fetch also says N/A. Is that the same thing?
Not always. Google's help defines Page fetch N/A as a failure that doesn't fit a known reason. When Google has never crawled the page, both lines can be empty. The Page indexing heading tells you which case you have.
