"Page with redirect": what it means and how to fix it

The URL redirects to another URL, so Google indexes the target instead.

What it means

Google requested this URL and the server sent a redirect. Google indexes the redirect target, not this URL.

Common causes

  • The page moved, and the sitemap still lists the old URL.
  • HTTP to HTTPS, or www to non-www, redirects.

How to fix it

  • Replace the old URL with the final URL in your sitemap and internal links.

When you can ignore it

The redirect is intentional and the sitemap lists only final URLs.

How to find these pages

In Search Console, open Indexing > Pages and select the "Page with redirect" row. Search Console shows up to 1,000 example URLs. CrawlCoach checks up to 10,000 URLs from your sitemap for each site and groups them by cause, so you fix the most valuable pages first.
